SINEMS

Swiss Indian Network of Experimental Music and Sound (SINEMS) is a residency and exchange program for Indian and Swiss artists and researchers who specialise in scientific and artistic research in sound technology, sound studies, experimental music and sound art.

 

SINEMS will nurture experimental sound and music practice between India and Switzerland.

 

SINEMS is supported by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia under the "To-Gather" grant.

ICST Studio

ICST/ISRO-Residency:
Spatial Sound Synthesis

In cooperation with the ISRO the ICST offers a residency in Zürich, Switzerland, exclusively for a person from India. The resident will have the opportunity to work on their own project in the ICST studio for three weeks.

The ISRO / SINEMS - Resident - André Bellmont

André Bellmont

André Bellmont was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He studied at the Zurich Conservatory. Further studies followed in Los Angeles at the Dick Grove School of Music. Since then he has been working as a Conductor, Composer and Orchestrator for different Film, Theatre and Concert Productions. André Bellmont teaches the core subject Composition for Film, Theatre und Media at The Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).

The ISRO / SINEMS - Resident - Yati Durant

Yati Durant

Yati Durant is a U.S. born composer, lecturer, trumpeter and conductor currently based in the UK. His first music studies in piano, composition and trumpet began at age 7, earning him many regional prizes and accolades, especially as a jazz musician.

Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST)

The Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) was founded in 2005 and is active in research, education and musical creation. Besides the long-standing focus on three-dimensional sound projection, current research fields include Interfaces & Augmented Instruments, Audio Haptic, Auditory Perception, Telematic Performance, Performance Practice of Electroacoustic Music, Sound Design, Sound Moving Sources, Theory, Notation and Representation, Acoustic Ecology und Generative Art.

The International Media Music and Sound Arts Network in Education (IMMSANE) is an initiative to support global higher education programmes in these fields to collaborate, disseminate research and pedagogy and link with industry. Sonic Matter / Openlab

The new Zurich platform SONIC MATTER is an invitation to go on a common journey of discovery, exploration and creation in the field of experimental music. This platform comprises a festival in Zurich that takes place each December, and an online forum that is active through the year. With SONIC MATTER, we would like to offer a space for urgent contemporary issues that can be negotiated jointly by artists and audiences over long periods of time.

The Indian Sonic Research Organisation (The I.S.R.O)

The Indian Sonic Research Organisation is a Bangalore-based sound research laboratory dedicated to the proliferation of experimental music and sound art. They run an open community sound studio, where they build instruments, and learn and collaborate through artist-led workshops, performances, exhibitions and residencies. TheISRO studio offers open access to a variety of traditional and and experimental instruments, as well as ambisonic recording devices and a 32-channel 3D sound-system.

 

Every year, TheISRO hosts residencies for artists, composers and researchers interested in expanding their sound-based practices. Besides exhibitions and performance, they also regularly organise artist-led workshops on topics ranging from DIY electronics to ambisonics, deep-listening and more.

Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia

Pro Helvetia New Delhi is part of the Swiss Arts Council’s worldwide network of liaison offices. Pro Helvetia New Delhi supports and disseminates Swiss arts and culture in South Asia. It promotes cultural exchange, develops and nurtures long-term partnerships, initiates co-productions and supports residencies.
